Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Practices for the 21st Century

International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) World Summit is an established annual global forum which serves as a platform for exchange of knowledge and experiences among procurement and supply chain management professionals.  IFPSM comprises of 48 professional bodies from across the globe.  Last year the Summit was held in Helsinki Finland, previously it was held in Barcelona, and Taiwan.  This is the first time for Africa to host the IFPSM World Summit.

This year’s theme looks at how sustainable procurement and supply chain activities are being integrated into processes to achieve value for money, improve organizational efficiency, eliminate waste, and achieve competitive advantage. The topical areas delve further into the strategic role played by procurement and supply chain functions to deliver sustainable development through contemporary purchasing practices and technology.

Presenters of this Summit are drawn from seasoned international speakers with expertise in the respective thematic areas; leading researchers, directors and chief executives of multinational organizations, key decision and policy makers.

Business Networking Forums
The Summit presents a unique opportunity for international delegates to explore the vast business opportunities available in the region.  Exhibitions and business match-making meetings have been organized to run concurrently with the Summit.  Delegates will be able to interact and forge business alliances with multi-sector industries represented.

Airport Transfers
Taxis are available for arrivals at Moi International Airport, Mombasa for transfers to hotels.  Delegates may directly contact their respective hotels to organize for airport transfers.

Haller Park Tour
As an extension of the lecture on ‘Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Projects’, an educational tour has been organized at Haller Park.  The park is an initiative by Bamburi Cement, (a subsidiary of Lafarge Holcim- a global leader in building materials industry) to sustainably utilize its lands and rehabilitate the quarries.   The park is host to a variety of wildlife, various animal species, rare and endangered vegetation.

Networking Dinner
A dinner has been organized for all delegates at Fort Jesus.  This is a historical site built 400 years ago by the Portuguese as a stronghold at the entrance of the sheltered harbor which became the gateway to Africa.  Dinner will be served at the inner courtyard and delegates treated to a brief sound and light show of the fortress’s history.

My Safari
Afternoon and early morning game drive through the wild at Amboseli National Park.  The park is famous for its big five, great scenic beauty, and the landscape dominated by the towering Mount Kilimanjaro.  Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making it a famous tourist destination.

Accommodation is limited as September is high season for tourists.  Delegates wishing to participate in this tour are advised to secure their booking by May 15th 2019.

Mombasa City
Mombasa is Kenya’s second largest and oldest city located on the East Coast region, along the Indian Ocean. The City is a major economic trade center and a regional gateway due to its seaport.  Mombasa is also a popular tourism destination.  The weather in Mombasa in September is mostly hot and temperatures range between 21 °C /69.8 °F - 30°C/86°F.  Delegates are encouraged to bring along light clothing.
